About Rosalind Franklin

This term for Inquiry we are learning about Kitchen Chemistry.  This week we focused on scientists and what they do.  First we went to the jamboard and answered some questions about scientists.

We talked about 5 different scientists and had to choose one of them to create an infographic poster of.  I chose to research Rosalind Franklin.

At the end I enjoy doing this task, because I like it.

Quality Blog Comments

This week we learned about quality blog comments.  Quality blog comments include positive, thoughtful and helpful.

First we do some practice.We use the colours to highlight them.For example yellow = greeting.Kia Ora Mr Goodwin is a greeting.So we highlight in yellow.

Then we go to the link and choose one of the blog and write our own comment.We also need to highlight them.

At the end I enjoy doing this, because I like it.

 

 

Visualising

This week we learned about visualising.

First week we learned about visualising.Visualising means creating a picture in your mind by reading the story or the text.

Then we need to get in pairs, writing our own story and let the other one imagine a picture of it.I draw it on paper.

At the end I enjoy doing this. Because I like it.

 

Describing Poem

This week we got to choose different activities to complete. I chose to do a describing poem.

First I was writing describing poem. Describing poem means give some detail to a word and we need to write them into a poem.

Then I put a picture of a squirrel.I need to write 7 words to describe the word that I choose.

At the end I enjoy doing this.Because I like it.

 

Internet Permanence

This week we learned about internet permanence. Internet Permanence means the things that you post on website site or online, it will stay there forever.

First the teacher showed us some examples of the people that don’t use internet permanence.

Then we made a poster about Internet Permanence .We choose one of the sentences and write on it.We also add some pictures.

At the end I enjoy doing this.Because I like it.

 

Procedural Writing 2

This week we practiced procedural writing. The procedural feature is TEMPS.

First we go to the slides writing answers to the questions. We put TEMPS in order. T for title, E for end result, M for materials, P for picture, S for steps.

Then we need to make a DLO.

At the end I enjoy doing this, because I like it. I did well making DLO. I need to improve remembering the order.

 

What We Share

This week we learned about what we share online.

First we watch a video about public and private information.  We talked about what we think should be shared online and what we shouldn’t be sharing online.  For example, you would want to keep your full name private, but you could share your favourite things publicly.

Then we need to go to the slide and put the thing that should be public or private.  We practiced “cutting” using Ctrl + X, and pasting using Ctrl + V.  After we finish that we need to add each of them three more.

At the end I enjoy doing this.  Because I like it.

What the World Eats

This week we compared and contrasted two different countries’ groceries from Peter Menzel’s photography book “What the world eats.”

First we choose 2 pictures. We also need to write their difference and the similarities.

Next we go to the slides, put the pictures on there and go to Google Map to find the 2 countries and take pictures.

Then we tell the reasons why they are different and same.

At the end I enjoy doing this, because I like it.

Victoria Cross

This week we learned about Victoria Cross.

First we choose one of them. We need to tell how they got the Victoria Cross and  answer some questions. There are three places named after NZ Victoria Cross receivers in Panmure.

They are Ngarimu Rd, Trent Rd and Upham Rd. Those roads are the peoples last names.They are the peoples that in the local history.

Then we go to Google Map to find the road that we are looking for and take a picture.

At the end I enjoy doing this, because I like it. I did well at this. I need to improve on finding the road quickly.
